The brief

Serve wholesale salon accounts and retail shoppers from one WooCommerce store, without either audience seeing the other's pricing.

The problem

Running B2B and B2C as separate stores doubles the catalogue maintenance and splits inventory. Running them as one store normally means wholesale pricing leaks to retail customers. The build had to keep a single product catalogue and a single stock pool while showing each customer only the pricing and products their account is entitled to.

What was built

  • Dual B2B + B2C WooCommerce architecture on WordPress
  • Wholesale accounts with tiered pricing and gated pro catalogs
  • Modern editorial visual design with high-end product photography
  • Advanced variable-product ecommerce with fast, streamlined checkout
  • Fully responsive, user-friendly experience across every device

Technologies used

  • WordPress
  • WooCommerce
  • PHP
  • Custom theme
  • Role-based pricing

Technical challenges

One catalogue, two price books

Wholesale and retail pricing were bound to customer roles rather than to duplicate products, so a single SKU carries tiered pricing that resolves at render time based on who is logged in. This keeps one product record and one stock count, which means inventory never drifts between the two channels.

Gating the trade catalogue without breaking public SEO

Some product lines are trade-only and must not be publicly visible, while the retail catalogue needs to stay fully crawlable. Access control was applied at the catalogue-visibility layer so gated lines are hidden from logged-out visitors and search engines entirely, rather than being rendered and hidden with CSS where they would still leak.

Wholesale account approval flow

Salons cannot simply self-register into trade pricing. A registration and approval path was built so a wholesale application is captured, reviewed, and only then promoted to the trade role — after which tiered pricing and the gated catalogue unlock automatically on next login.

Outcome

A single WooCommerce installation now serves both channels with role-based pricing, a gated trade catalogue, and a shared stock pool, replacing what would otherwise have been two separately maintained stores.
