The brief
Build an editorial portfolio for a published author and pharmaceutical sciences professor covering books, research output, and press coverage.
The problem
An academic and publishing body of work spanning decades does not fit a standard portfolio template. Books, peer-reviewed research, and press features are three different content types with different metadata, and cramming them into ordinary pages makes the archive impossible to browse or extend.

Technical challenges
Three content types, one coherent archive
Books, research, and press were modelled as separate custom post types with their own fields, so each archive can be sorted and filtered on its own terms while sharing one design language. Adding a new book or paper is a single admin entry rather than a page build.
Long-form readability
Typography was set for sustained reading — measured line length, deliberate vertical rhythm, and contrast levels that hold up in long sessions — rather than for the short marketing blocks a default theme optimises for.
Accessibility-first markup
Semantic document structure and colour contrast were treated as build requirements rather than a retrofit, which matters for an academic audience and for any automated system parsing the archive.
Outcome
An extensible editorial site where books, research, and press each have a purpose-built archive, and new entries are added through the WordPress admin without developer involvement.
Delivered solo by Akif Wani, working directly with the client. Performance and commercial metrics for this project sit with the client and are not published here.
